Probiotics are essential for maintaining your body in perfect condition. They are actually friendly bacteria needed for proper digestion. These beneficial bacteria are important for your immune system and allow better absorption of different nutrients. Most good bacteria-rich foods comes from dairy products, but there are some other, really good sources for natural, lactose free probiotics you can use instead.

Sauerkraut is one of the cheapest sources of numerous valuable substances, including probiotics. It also contains a great deal of vitamin C, highly appreciated anti oxidant. Fermented cabbage is tasty and can be used for preparing numerous healthy and delicious dishes. It can also be consumed in its fresh form. Sauerkraut salad will be even tastier if you add a little bit of garlic and some vegetable oil in it.

Another fermented food rich in probiotics is Miso. It is highly nourishing, and it's also a very good source of vitamins B6 and K, as well as some other essential minerals, for example manganese, zinc and phosphorus. It is important to prepare it properly, to preserve all these valuable substances, especially beneficial food enzymes. That's why it shouldn't be over-heated.

Ginger beer can also be a good source of nutritional substances, and some people aren't aware of the fact it also contains a great deal of valuable friendly bacteria. It's perfectly lactose free, tasty and great for your digestion. It can replace sodas and similar drinks, and even kids love it. The only problem is that it also contains some sugar, and you shouldn't consume too much of it.

If you prefer something different, try using coconut kefir. This interesting drink is made fermenting coconut milk, and can be a great source of not only good bacteria, but also numerous vitamins and minerals. For example, it contains potassium and magnesium. Tasty and sweet, coconut kefir has low glycemic index and can be used even if you are on a diet, and will improve your digestion really quickly.

Kombucha is actually a fermented tea. It is rich in vitamin B12, among other things, but also a very good source of good bacteria essential for your health. This widely available product also contains glucaric acid. This substance is simply great if you want to detoxify your organism. Besides, some researches show that it can also be used as a good prevention of different types of tumors.

Pickles are also good lactose-free sources of valuable probiotics. You will also find other types of fermented foods that can be used as a great source of friendly bacteria, for example pickled plums or pickled ginger. The important thing is that these foods are fermented using salt and other spices instead of vinegar. Include similar fermented foods in your regular diet, especially during winter.

If you have to take antibiotics, make sure to take probiotics as well. Antibiotics will kill not only bad bacteria in your body, but also good ones, and they need to be replaced. If not, you might end up with diarrhea and stomach pains. Similar problems can be easily avoided by taking natural sources of god bacteria, or by taking lactose free supplements.
