Making Time To Get More Antixodants Like Glutathione

By Bob Simpson

If you read up on health news, you have probably heard quite a bit about antioxidants, and how they help your body to fight free radicals and toxins that you ingest into your system each day. Free radicals, if left unchecked, can be quite damaging to the body and are often at the root of several health issues that many people experience. Antioxidants like glutathione are the best way to combat these free radicals and toxins, so it is important to get enough of them each day.

Your body automatically produces this natural substance as a part of its natural, everyday process. Once it is depleted, your body continues to make more, though there are several factors that can prevent that from happening. The cysteine, glycine and glutamine that make up this natural defender are easily made by the body, but you have to pay attention to certain health issues and environmental factors, as the amount you make can reduce dramatically depending on a number of factors.

In general, antioxidants are very important because they clean out toxins from your system. The reason why this natural substance is such an important antioxidant is because it is a hard worker. It is basically like a sponge that soaks up free radicals, helping you eliminate them as waste so that they can no longer harm your body.

Unfortunately, all of the antioxidants in your body can be depleted very rapidly if you have a lot of toxic matter coursing through your body. For example, if you have been exposed to heavy metals like mercury or have a high stress life, the antioxidants in your body can be used up rapidly to help fight the affects of the stress or metal exposure. There are many other conditions which can cause a depletion, including infections, illness and especially cancer. Any kind of liver disease or abuse from things like alcoholism can also affect your levels. When the liver cannot help you flush out those toxins, they build up in your body, causing antioxidant levels to plummet as they get used up.

This antioxidant does so much more than capture toxic matter in the body, though. Some doctors are now using it as part of an overall treatment plan for cancer patients. When chemotherapy and radiation are prescribed for a cancer sufferer, they help eliminate cancer, but can cause other issues that this natural substance can help with.

If your body is not producing enough this antioxidant, then it falls on you to actively try to get more into your system. It is actually fairly easy to do, as long as you are willing to make a few dietary changes. You can eat foods that are rich in sulfur such as cabbage, garlic, onions, squashes and even avocados that are not only good for you, but they help your body produce more antioxidants. If you enjoy meat and are not a vegetarian or vegan, then you can also eat beef or organ meats such as beef liver. Try to eat fresh or lightly cooked foods, since canning and overcooking eliminates it.

If it is not possible to get that much beef or veggies into your diet, then it is perfectly fine to take a supplement instead. There are pills for sale in most drug stores and some supermarkets that can give your body a boost.

As people age, they tend to have less energy and do not exercise as much. The body depends on a natural chemical called ATP, short for adenosine triphosphate to produce this natural substance. The only way to produce ATP is through bursts of energy like exercising. If you are exercising less or have injuries that make it hard to do so, then diet changes or a supplement are needed to make up for the more sedentary lifestyle.

Stress is a big reason why people either do not get enough exercise or are feeling depleted of all their energy. Take a supplement and try to reduce the amount of stress in your life to combat the dangerous effects.

Of course, reducing stress and getting more activity and exercise into your life is sound health advice no matter what your antioxidant levels are. Doing this will help you feel stronger, healthier and increase your energy.

All kinds of hype exists about antioxidants, so much that it is hard to figure which is hype and which is true. All the great things you hear about this specific antioxidant is actually real, so try getting more into your body.
