What You Should Know About Mobile Al Flu Shots

By Kimberly Barnes

Vaccines are important in that they protect you from dangerous virus infections. With a flu shot, you protect yourself from the influenza virus. When you are in good health, you can run your daily activities without interruptions. The information below contains some truths about mobile AL flu shots .

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that the one sure way of guarding yourself against diseases is getting the nasal spray flu vaccine or flu shot each year, even though some controversies are surrounding the entire vaccination issue. A lot of the controversy entails a component used by manufacturers in making the vaccines or flu shots like a preservative called thimerosal.

The Thimerosal is a form of the conserving element made from mercury and for many years, it has been considered to hurt human beings. As a result, all the mercury-containing preservatives had been withdrawn from use. The chemical is said to be toxic with serious effects on the nerves and nerve tissues. It is believed that if it is taken to the human body system in small quantities, it may not have serious effects but when the consumption is high, it could have fatal results.

An annual flu shot solely will not have sufficient mercury to cause issues, but due to environmental pollution, the annual shots will not be the only sources of mercury-contaminated substances. The problem arises when this mercury in the vaccine combines with other mercury from other substances. There are flu shots that do not have preservatives though you should specifically ask for them.

When you are given the shot, the dead influenza virus is being released in your blood. When this happens, it takes the antibodies less than three weeks to build up and prevent your body from any influenza virus. There are different types of flu virus, and this is why you should know that avian influenza cannot be controlled by those flu shots.

In most cases, people prefer having nasal spray, which is a flu vaccine with a weaker live flu virus as compared to the shots. The spray is recommended for individuals between five years of age to forty-nine except expectant mothers. As is the case with the vaccines, the spray will be good for most viruses accept avian.

It is recommended that before one is given either the nasal or the vaccine, the individual should be tested to find out how they will respond to the protective measure. As most pharmacists will like to start the shot before the break of the flu, it is important that individuals are checked and tested. At the same time, the vaccine will not be good for on little children.

Some of the side effects associated with flu shots are redness, fever, swelling at the place where the shot was done, soreness and aches. Also, the nasal spray vaccine that has the live virus will have side effects on adults like coughs, runny nose, sore throat, and headache. For children, the nasal spray vaccine will also have side effects including fever, vomiting, and muscle aches. It is however recommended that individuals guard themselves against the risk factors that can lead to flu as well as other viruses by good health habits, good nutrition, regular exercise, and getting enough rest.
