A Simple Guide To Skin Extractions Vancouver

By Ines Flores

The skin especially the face demands attention and care from everyone. Acne is the number one enemy to all peoples in the struggle for a smooth looking face. Whiteheads and blackheads are the most common types of acne. The two can be removed effectively by an esthetician through a skin extractions Vancouver BC procedure.

For starters, acne, as said before, commonly manifests in whiteheads and blackheads. The two forms are generally referred to as comedonals which arise from clogging of hair follicles with oil or sebum. The difference between the two is how much they are exposed to air. Blackheads are pretty much open to air whereas whiteheads are closed which make the whole difference in terms of how they appear.

Different people seek different procedures to treat acne. Some prefer over the counter medication from a drugstore whereas others may opt to pay the dermatologist a visit. The rest of the population prefer to the esthetician. An esthetician is skin care expert usually with professional training if some level. Through a facial, an esthetician plucks the blackheads and whiteheads off.

The sole purpose of a facial routine is to cleanse, exfoliate and massage the face. During these procedures, the hardened sebum or oil on the hair follicles forming blackheads become softer. Once they are soft, it is easy to pluck them off during the extraction process. The esthetician must remember to wear hand gloves at this stage to prevent exchange of body fluids.

Estheticians may use extraction tools or index fingers to get rid of the blackheads on the face. Extraction tools are stainless steel and seem to be quicker but some clients complain of pain. In contrast, index fingers are much slower but some clients find them more comfortable. When using the index fingers, the esthetician should apply pressure on both sides of the blackhead and try to remove it gently from the follicle.

There is a layer of dead cells on top of the hard plug of sebum on the hair follicle. This makes it difficult to remove the whitehead using tools or fingers. The alternative is a lancet or a small surgical blade. The blade should be sterile used delicately as the process is very fragile. The esthetician can make a small opening and remove the whitehead. However, note that the use of lancets for such procedures is prohibited in some states.

Throughout these extraction processes, both the client and beauty care expert should observe safety precautions and measures. For instance, areas showing signs of inflammation should not be touched as infection is likely to spread. In addition, the duration of the procedure should be less than ten minutes. Also, the number of procedures performed should be limited as skin trauma can result if there are many procedures at once. Every two weeks is recommended.

Extractions are important for those with acne and other blemishes. The face starts to improve almost immediately after clearing the follicles. As a client, be keen on your expectations as the extraction process can hurt. Thinner skins are more sensitive compared to thicker ones. Also, some estheticians may be more aggressive than others.
