It is a process of taking off dead cell tissues to allow the healthy once reproduce and heal faster. This is highly recommended for those people who suffered from grave injury and wounds.

This way, it will give room to your dead cells to make the healing process much efficient. This process is very literal. Hence, you should stay on guard. Before engaging in it, thorough medical tests were first conducted. Your doctor will also perform wound measurement. They need to have the exact size and depth of the wound. This way, they can limit the risk of the operation.

You will also be given pain related lectures. You must be greatly aware of various risks and complications you might be facing in the future. There are chances that it will inflict infection, pain, and bleeding on your part. You need to be immune enough to eliminate those factors. You must have a high immunity. There are four types of procedures performed to conduct this activity. It could be classified into two categories. The nonsurgical and surgical debridement. In order to analyze it better, below are the things you need to know about the four processes. Discuss it with your doctor carefully, which one suits you best.

Autolytic debridement. This is the natural process of dead cells replacement. Everyone experience it. However, to accelerate the natural procedure, hydrocolloids and hydrogels were used. These substances allow the healing process quicker. Recently, many doctors applied honey on the procedure. The element is very effective especially in making the removal of dead cells faster.

Mechanical debridement. This technique uses mechanical components. This is recognized as more effective than Autolytic debridement. However, you need to be aware of its cons. The method had a tendency to remove not only the dead tissues but also the goo one. Many patients also report discomfort and pain after the procedure. Hence, you need to be careful. The most common practice under this procedure is the Dry Dressing.

Enzymatic Debridement. It is selective. It usually performs on burns. However, it depends on your case. In order to cure you, enzymes from plants are used. These are produced in the laboratory. It could be from papain, collagenase or bromelain.

Maggot therapy. This type of application uses maggots. A larva that is feed with dead tissues of animals. To sustain the safeness of the application, the doctor must exactly calculate the number of maggots needed on your body. Any overlap may endanger the health of their patient. Aside from that, these maggots are completely safe to use. They are only fed on the dead cells of your body. Once their job is over, they will be pulled out.
