Basic Concepts Of Patient Education

Is the act of imparting information to people who are not well health wise and their guardians that will change their behavior on health matters and improve status of their health. Those who can give such information include pharmacists, registered dietitian, registered nurses, medical workers, health planners and health advocates. Patient education is a tool that can be used to help caretakers of those people.

Those who are legally authorized to teach in such fields are pharmacists, nurses who are registered, dietitian who are registered, medical workers, planner from health and advocates of health, the teaching can be useful to managers of health care organisation. The teachings include general preventive teaching, campaigns for health and specific health tutorials. The basic qualities of these tutorials is coming up with skill and observing social responsibility.

This method can be used to handle any disease problems to be reviewed together with the patient. Make the patient feel as free as possible to avoid passive res ponders. The health care provider can adopt the following in discussing the disease, reporting lab finding, giving outcome of the disease, assessing what the subject knows.

Explaining psychopathology and assessing the patient feelings initially and attitudes, Use language known to client and avoid jargon or complex terms, ensuring correctness of the information given and also assessing client understanding.

Such tutorials promote the outcome since many people who are into teachings most likely respond well to their medications and description plan with minimal complications. They have more information at their disposal and can take accurate decisions any time.

Qualities of a good health educator are, being able to combine personal ethic in relation to being socially responsible by giving service towards those who need it, give precise, competent and care based on evidence. Exercise preventive health services and care.

Establish relationship based on care with persons involved and their respective families or guardians, integrate the various factors of health when giving care, not limiting themselves to culture, be culturally open and sensitive to varied society.

Starting these programs at first may seem as time consuming to many, but once the program is in place, it save on cost, time and lowers other related issues, one can start these program by following simple ways, use of dialogue to speak to client, issuing printed materials, printing some of your own materials, using digital video decoder, acquiring informed consensus, being able to communicate to people who use different language other than English and finally having a website for people to access.
